Frequently Asked Questions

How much space do you need?

The Authenticators’ modern, professional equipment allows us to work within most space, but a space of 5×3 meters is usually ideal. Between the band we’ve played in most situations and settings, so will always make the best use of any space – however unusual!

How long will the band play for?

Usually the band plays 2 x 60, 2 x 45, or 3 x 40 minute sets

How is it best to time things?

No two events are the same, and The Authenticators will never dictate the timings of your event. Usually we find 2 x 60 minute sets work best starting around 9pm and 10:30pm. We recommend arranging the band sets around the food, as this is the most common issue we see in timing of events – no one wants to be torn between dessert and the dance floor!

Can you learn requests?

On the chance we don’t know it already, sure! First dances and other requests can all be discussed when booking.

Can we decide the set list?

We’ve spent over a decade refining what works best in a live setting so we ask that you trust us on that, BUT we ABSOLUTELY want to get to know your likes and dislikes so we can craft the ultimate setlist for you and your event!

Can you supply a DJ service?

Yes! We can supply professionally mixed DJ music before, between and after our sets.

Where will you travel to?

The Authenticators are all based in London but have been booked far and wide across the UK and internationally.

Will you provide the sound system and stage ighting?

Absolutely – we always bring a high quality PA system and all lighting, as well as the know-how to make it sound and look great!

What if our venue has a sound limiter?

No problem – just let us know in advance.

How long do you take to set up?

The Authenticators are extremely efficient when setting up to perform. On average, they recommend allowing 90 minutes for the band to set up, dress the stage and soundcheck. This time allows the band to ensure everything is prepared to The Authenticators’ high standard without rushing.

Do you offer an acoustic option?

We do, and it’s always a winner for background music for a drinks reception, during dinner or to keep the party going between the wedding breakfast and evening reception. This can be either solo acoustic guitar + vocals, or an acoustic duo.

Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?

All of The Authenticators’ equipment is PAT certificated and tested, and this is kept up to date annually. All members of The Authenticators are members of the Musicians Union which makes certain that all have individual PLI cover of £10 million each. If you require any further information don’t hesitate to get in touch with the band.

How loud will the band be?

The band are flexible and accommodating – they always work with clients to ensure that the band is of a level in which people can enjoy the music being played and others in the room are able to have a conversation. However, as a four piece band with acoustic drums, guitar, bass and keyboard, it is only possible to reduce the levels down so far without it affecting the performance.

A live band has a different dynamic to that of recorded music played through a PA system, and so this should all be taken into account when looking at a venue. Some venues have installed dB limiters which can affect the bands ability to perform without hindrance. The Authenticators have experience of playing in all settings so just let us know in advance and we can decide whether the band needs to use different equipment such as an electric drum kit.

If it turns out that the limiter is set to an exceptionally low setting it is always possible to come up with solutions to this, such as acoustic sets performed in a live lounge style. This ensures that you still get the music you want and can dance too, just at a lower level.
